MONTHLY RECAPSTREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS

This summer has been so eventful, even though itās just begun! Iāve been feeling a lot of built up creativity that I havenāt executed yet, and Iāve been really inspired by the world around me. Since itās been so long since I made my last post, I want to carve out some time to talk about some things that have sparked my brain over the past few months!

Iāve been really into ornate, almost circus-like art as of late ā ever since visiting the Brasserie of Light in my most recent trip to London, Iāve been transfixed on Pegasus and Unicorn motifs! Itās become something Iām really drawn to, and I feel like a teenager again, when unicorns were really weirdly popular, along with owls. It makes me think ā whatās the current animal fixation? Capybaras? Axolotls? Seals? Frogs? Iām a big frog girl, so maybe thatās skewing my algorithms, and thus my perception of animal popularity.
I really want to make some Pegasus/unicorn pieces to wear⦠they had these gorgeous rhinestone brooches at the Brasserie, so maybe Iāll take some inspo from that and make my own rhinestone brooch! I was thinking I could either use air dry clay, or maybe 3D print the base of the unicorn, and then just glue the stones onto there? Oh, and they had these adorable jackets that were also studded with the Pegasus motif, and the plates, AND the napkins⦠itās all just so dreamy! The branding all centers around the MASSIVE Pegasus statue in the center of the restaurant, done by Damien Hirst ā controversial as he may be, the man knows how to make things sparkle (I still drool over For The Love Of God, to this day)! I might want to do some embroidery too, and make some custom napkins for my new house. I wonder if Ian would be cool with our future family crest having a unicorn on it? Ooooh, maybe a unicorn and a snake or something? Gotta put that one in my back pocket for later!

In a similar vein, Iāve felt really drawn to embroidery and beadwork as of late. Thereās so many beautiful, intricate designs out there that sparkle and shine and charm from a mile away. Beaded books, coin purses, tshirts, lamps, even stuffed animals! Iām sensing a theme⦠lots of sparkles and glitter in my thoughts as of late! Iām even doing some diamond paintings right now of food, that I plan to hang in my kitchen. The diamonds are square shaped, which make everything look cute and 8-bit, which is, of course, my vibe.
I think I need more jewelry. Which is a truly ridiculous thing to say LOL, because I have so much, but thereās just so much opportunity for glitter and shine in the world, and I feel like a crow, wanting to have it all in my possession.
For some future projects, I think Iād really like to hand make some ornaments for Christmas this year! I was thinking beaded shrimps would be so cute, maybe wearing top hats and bowties, martini glasses filled with cocktail sauce, and maybe a shrimp with a chefās hat on⦠because youāre telling me a SHRIMP fried this rice???? Iām thinking fun and sexy Sabrina Carpenter vibes. But with shrimps.
OOOOH, and I just thought of something ā a bedazzled Tamagotchi!! Memetchi and Kuchipatchi, all in sparkles. I might try to hand make Christmas ornaments for everyone this year. DIY is a bit cheaper, and with us buying a new house, Iām not going to be able to go all out on gifts this year⦠monetarily, that is.

Next up is jazz, funk, and soul ā my jazz phase has been going on for seemingly MONTHS with no end in sight, and Spotify keeps recommending it to me, so Iām stuck in an endless loop of thinking āman, I wish I heard some different types of musi- oh hey, what a great jazz track! Saved šā. Iām doing this to myself lol. Itās been all about funk and disco too, the pulsing rhythms and hypnotic grooves that make me want to dance and sway. Iāve been listening to a lot of Jamiroquai, who always makes me think of Arin from Game Grumps, since heās a big fan too. This kind of music has such a warm vibe to it, making it the perfect soundtrack to my blazing, sweat-soaked, smiling summer. :)

And Iāve been listening to a lot of female vocalists - the new Olivia Rodrigo album, while I havenāt listened to it all the way yet, has been really pretty in the tracks Iāve heard so far. Honeybee is a sickly sweet song, and makes me feel like a pile of mush. It makes me think of riding the Ferris wheel with Ian in the summertime, my hands a little bit sticky from cotton candy, my hair windswept from the coasters. Kacey Musgravesā Rhinestoned is similarly cute, though with more of a country lean than I normally go for. And Alina Barazās new track Take Care of You is a warmth and love in a song ā more akin to a sweet chai in the wintertime than a saccharine summer sweetness.
Iāve been pulled in three different directions, music-wise. First off, itās the summertime, so I always get a hankering for nostalgic 90s rock and indie music. Iāve been listening to a lot of Cake, Fastball, and Sublime, and similar vibes, seemingly on repeat. It just feels good, and makes me think of sitting by the pool and eating taquitos, manually rolling down the windows in the back of my momās old blue Tracer, and doing cartwheels with my sister in the front lawn. It tasted like the local ice cream place down the road, smells like the warmed carpet in our upstairs hallway. The sweet smell and warmth of summer.

As Ian and I purchase our first home, I'm really hoping to apply some of these inspirations to our designs - orrrrrrrr maybe just mine, since I know my style is a bit. Eclectic, lol. Either way, I think I needed to get this out of my brain so I can maybe actually execute some of these ideas and inspirations! We shall see. :)
