MONTHLY RECAP
7/1/20255 min read

The past few months have been super busy, but I’m happy to return to form… with a June recap! Here’s what’s been going on for the past few weeks. 😊

This month allowed me to finish a lot of projects, but also take on some new ones! For the past month and a half, I’ve been working on creating a text-based video game based on the show Severance for my sister’s birthday. It required a lot of time, learning, and trial and error, but I finally finished it and got it out to her! I ended up making custom snack boxes, a Lumon employee ID, stickers, an employee handbook, and some extra items to go along with the game too. It was so fun and creatively fulfilling, but once it was done, I felt a little… aimless? Without a strong focus, I found myself settling into my worst habits (AKA TikTok doomscrolling). So I’m hoping that working on posts again will help to reignite my creative passion and keep me off these stupid fuck ass apps.
Ian and I also finished watching Castlevania Nocturne (which was incredible), and put a bit of a bug in me about wanting to get another tattoo… the moon logo would be dope to have on me somewhere, and I might want to get it with a blue butterfly. I might draw that up and get it done soon (but not before getting a matching tattoo with Bec – my other birthday gift to her!). And it took me a while, but I also finished playing the switch game West of Loathing, which was so fun and well-written – I’m going to put the other games in the series on my wish list to play too!
On the note of beginnings, one of the bigger things is that I saw a dietician! I’m trying to lose weight (what else is new lol), but he’s given me some strategies and tips to drop some lbs. And it’s working so far, which is crazy, because I’m eating more calories than I did when dieting previously.
I’ve also started playing Tales from the Borderlands with Ian, which I’ve been loving! It’s been really funny and engaging, but the quick time events do stress me out a little. And poor Ian, I’ve been asking him to google walkthroughs every two seconds to make sure I don’t select a bad option! I just hate not knowing if I’m picking something game-changing, and seeing the “So-and-so will remember this” notification in the corner makes me SWEAT.

As part of my reignited weight loss journey, I’ve become a bit of a cardio queen! Which is both a good and bad thing, because on the one hand, it seems like it’s working and doing a lot for me weight loss. But on the other, sweatier hand, I despise cardio and everything it stands for. So it’s a bit bittersweet (more like bittersweat… lame.) I keep trying to remind myself that my struggles now will make moving through France much more easy for me in a few months, and that’s been helping to push me through.
Something I need to remember to do more often is doing home workouts – I always say I’m going to, but then I just go through my regular routine of setting up dinner, sitting on the couch and doing whatever, then going to bed. Especially with the VR, I can really go wild with arm and cardio workouts. I even bought arm weights to help make it a bit more challenging! I just have to stay motivated and push myself to workout at home, even when I’m feeling laaaaaaaaaazy.

Dude. I am a little obsessed with Depop right now. I never really used it before, but over the past few weeks, I’ve been watching like a HAWK to see if there are any new, cute items. My usual search terms are Betsey Johnson, Vivienne Westwood, dopamine, quirky, and Dressed in Lala – though the clothes that pop up are not always those specific brands, it does show me items that would fit in that aesthetic, which is really nice. So far, I’ve bought two tank tops (one Betsey, a spaghetti strap with bows all over it, and one Simply Vera Wang, with an abstract design), a sweater with a FURRED COLLAR (insane pull), and two slip dresses that I plan on layering together for an artsy, flowy kind of look.
I might start selling some stuff too, to clear out my closet – hopefully as I lose weight, I can get some cash back to buy some new pieces. 😊

And that should cover the big stuff for this past month! Hopefully July is peaceful, at my own pace, and allows for some gentle adventuring (and a BEACHHHHH).
See you!
